Dr. Katelynn Boerner

Professional Bio

Dr. Katelynn Boerner (she/her/elle) is a Research Associate in the Department of Pediatrics, University of British Columbia and a Registered Psychologist in the Complex Pain Service, BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver, Canada. Her research and clinical interests are in addressing issues related to health equity in pediatric pain, particularly in increasing accessibility of treatment for chronic pain in gender-diverse and neurodiverse youth.  She is also interested in mechanisms related to sex, gender, and development in children's health and how gendered health beliefs and behaviours are transmitted socially. Dr. Boerner received her PhD in Clinical Psychology in 2017 from Dalhousie University, where she worked with Dr. Christine Chambers in the Centre for Pediatric Pain Research. She completed a clinical residency at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, and then postdoctoral fellowships in Psychiatry (mentored by Dr. Amrit Dhariwal) and Pediatrics (mentored by Dr. Tim Oberlander) at BC Children's Hospital.
