Fetal surgery is a relatively recent area in general surgery. It is a challenging scenario for pediatric surgeons. Now several topics are currently debated, e.g. fetal pain assessment during surgery, fetal analgesic treatments and the criteria to choose between prenatal or postnatal treatments. These points will be clearly illustrated and will be important in the formation of pediatric surgeons and anesthethists.
