Dr. Feinstein will briefly summarize literature on AYAs with two chronic illnesses where pain is a salient feature (i.e., sickle cell disease, juvenile idiopathic arthritis) to describe transition risk factors and healthcare transition (HCT) interventions that may apply to chronic pain. She will highlight key factors that explain why HCT in chronic pain is distinct from transition in other chronic health conditions, and how to approach these differences in clinical practice. Dr. Feinstein will moderate the Q&A period to encourage discussion of clinical treatment, research, and program development in healthcare transition for AYAs with chronic pain.
