Amy Hale PhD is Research and Teaching Lead of the Comfort Ability Program (CAP) within Pain Medicine, Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine; she is also an Attending Psychologist in the Department of Gastroenterology and Nutrition at Boston Children’s Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. Within CAP she provides ongoing consultation and support for sites implementing CAP, engages in research, and develops and delivers CE programming. Within the GI division she specializes in the psychological evaluation and treatment of children and adolescents with gastrointestinal conditions (e.g., DGBIs, Celiac Disease, IBD), is part of the multidisciplinary Functional Abdominal Pain Program, and is co-director of Psychogastroenterology CE Courses. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Connecticut and completed a Clinical Research Fellowship at the University of Connecticut Health Center and Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in the Department of Gastroenterology. Her clinical and research interests include pediatric chronic pain, disorders of gut-brain interaction, and dissemination of evidence-based treatments.
