Dr. de la Vega will present how to conduct a needs assessment in young people with chronic pain without access to pain clinics, to better understand their barriers of care. Adolescents 12 – 17 and one of their parents will participate in focus groups in the Spring. Specific questions on transitioning from pediatric to adult care will be asked. Results will include concerns and expectations from younger patients and experiences from older patients, as the transition in Spain normally occurs at 14. Results will inform on the transition needs of youth with chronic pain with suboptimal care, which may inform the development of new interventions aimed at the transition period.
