Abstract Description
This session will explore a study led by the speaker designed to modify existing pain assessment tools to improve their relevance, comprehensiveness and comprehensibility for children and young people with cerebral palsy. The preliminary findings of this Delphi study, conducted alongside a qualitative descriptive study, will be presented, including suggestions for the improvement or modification of existing pain assessment tools. An explanation of the methodology used to modify the tools will be provided, including applying the COSMIN framework. Participants will again engage in the case-based scenarios from the previous two presentations, with a focus on identifying how these modifications may improve the appropriateness of the tools, as well as their ability to be used across the spectrum of communication, mobility and cognitive impairment in cerebral palsy. Participants will have ‘hands on’ opportunity to use the assessment tools within these case-based scenarios, including using them with alternative methods of communication.
