Abstract Description

Pain-related stigma is often experienced by adolescents with juvenile fibromyalgia but has not been studied directly. The current study describes pain-related stigma in 63 adolescents with JFM via preliminary validation of the newly developed Pain-Related Stigma Scale for Adolescents (PReSS-A). Results revealed adequate psychometric properties of PReSS-A and how internalized stigma may be an important factor in predicting functional disability in this young population.
