Abstract Description

Institution: Cleveland Clinic Children's - Ohio, United States of America

This is a single-subject case report describing a patient with a complex medical and psychosocial history and their experience and outcomes participating in two separate chronic pain treatment modalities. The first modality was a traditionally structured IIPT program and the second modality was in a “burst” format of intensive outpatient therapy that followed an intermittent treatment schedule over approximately two months. Patient was unresponsive to standard IIPT intervention, but demonstrated significant progress in physical and emotional functioning in the second treatment modality. This abstract highlights an alternative approach to chronic pain treatment that may be effective for patients who are unresponsive to traditional IIPT programming.
