Abstract Description
This presentation will focus on presenting the challenges and barriers to accurate identification and assessment of chronic pain in children and young people with cerebral palsy. It will then present a biopsychosocial framework for pain assessment in cerebral palsy, including the process undertaken to achieve consensus on a core set of pain domains specific to cerebral palsy. This presentation will provide the relevant background for Presentations 2 and 3 which will delve further into specific tools recommended for use in children and young people with cerebral palsy, utilising case based scenarios whereby participants will be able to identify how the framework and assessment tools could be relevant to the cases.
