Aikaterini Giannakopoulou is a Doctoral student at the department of Nursing Sciences at the University of Umeå, working currently on a digital health project that can help adolescents with recurrent pain issues and increase their school presence. She is working as a midwife for 22 years and besides helping women during pregnancy and childbirth, she has been supporting adolescents on sexual and reproductive health issues at the primary youth health care centers. She has a deep knowledge in yoga, meditation and relaxation techniques and by 
combining her medical knowledge with non-pharmaceutical methods she has supported her patients from adolescence to motherhood and beyond. Nowadays, she is living and working at the North of Sweden ,exploring the possibilities of using a mobile health application in the school health care services to help adolescents with recurrent pain issues, by offering pain education and supporting them in managing everyday tasks.
